As far as your question concern "worthiness," it always come down to usage and budget. IMO, you really do not need larger brakes for street use. Perhaps a more aggressive pad if you want enhanced stopping power. The E46 330i brake upgrade on an E36 is worth it. However its more complicated then just swapping calipers.
